Adaptive routing for layer-2 load balancing in data center networks
Published 2013“…The proposed framework has several important features: 1) It provides adaptive multi path forwarding compatibility in layer-2 Ethernet switched networks to efficiently spread the load in adaption to changing load conditions. 2) It improves the bi-section bandwidth utilization in Data Center networks. 3) It is capable of achieving load balancing at the layer-2 level and 4) It ensures effective traffic redistribution upon link failures. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism through simulation results.…”

The political psychology of personality and attitudes towards immigrants
Published 2025“…First, I review the existing peer-reviewed academic literature that has so far attempted to link variation in natives’ Big Five personality traits to their immigration attitudes, and embed it into a more comprehensive discussion of the academic literatures on the causes and correlates of immigration attitudes. …”

Blind quantum computing with trapped ions and single photons
Published 2023“…

Our experimental platform consists of a trapped-ion quantum server and a client-side photonic detection system networked via a fibre-optic quantum link. We integrate a long-lived memory qubit into a trapped-ion quantum network node to enable simultaneous storage and manipulation of multiple entangled states across a network of quantum processors. …”

Investigating the effects of inflammation on emotional processing
Published 2016“…The current thesis therefore aimed to enhance understanding of the neuropsychological underpinnings of the link between inflammation and depression.

Negative emotional processing biases are well-recognised in the aetiology of depression; however potential inflammation-induced alterations in emotional processing remain unexplored. …”

Modelling the impact of testing, contact tracing and household quarantine on second waves of COVID-19
Published 2021“…Here we integrate anonymized, geolocalized mobility data with census and demographic data to build a detailed agent-based model of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission in the Boston metropolitan area. We find that a period of strict social distancing followed by a robust level of testing, contact-tracing and household quarantine could keep the disease within the capacity of the healthcare system while enabling the reopening of economic activities. …”

Self-ejection of salts and other foulants from superhydrophobic surfaces to enable sustainable anti-fouling
Published 2024“…Counterintuitively, we find that the addition of “contaminant” chemistries can enable ejection under conditions where ejection was not observed for waters containing only sodium chloride salt (e.g., from smooth hydrophobic surfaces), and that increased concentrations of both surfactants and colloids lead to longer ejection lengths. …”

Electrostatic dust removal using adsorbed moisture–assisted charge induction for sustainable operation of solar panels
Published 2024“…Here, we present a waterless approach for dust removal from solar panels using electrostatic induction. We find that dust particles, despite primarily consisting of insulating silica, can be electrostatically repelled from electrodes due to charge induction assisted by adsorbed moisture. …”
