An RRM–ZnF RNA recognition module targets RBM10 to exonic sequences to promote exon exclusion
Published 2017“…Importantly, a second RRM domain (RRM2) of RBM10 recognizes a C-rich sequence, which explains its known interaction with the intronic 3΄ site of NUMB exon 9 contributing to regulation of the Notch pathway in cancer. Together, these findings explain RBM10's broad RNA specificity and suggest that RBM10 functions as a splicing regulator using two RNA-binding units with different specificities to promote exon skipping.…”

Effect of post-deposition annealing on the interface electronic structures of Al2O3-Capped GaN and GaN/AlGaN/GaN heterostructure
Published 2019“…The XPS data, however, reveal a clear Ga-O signal for all samples and no apparent change in the Ga-O to Ga-N bond ratio for the range of annealing temperatures studied. These findings imply that the observed improvement in 2DEG mobility (and the associated decrease of interface defect density) should be ascribed to the structural change of the disordered GaOx interfacial layer formed during the atomic-layer-deposition of the Al2O3.…”

Early Vocal Development in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Rett Syndrome, and Fragile X Syndrome: Insights from Studies Using Retrospective Video Analysis
Published 2018“…These studies were then categorised according to whether children were later diagnosed with ASD (13 studies), RTT (8 studies), or FXS (2 studies) and then described in terms of (a) participant characteristics, (b) control group characteristics, (c) video footage, (d) behaviours analysed, and (e) main findings. This overview supports the use of RVA in analysing the early development of vocalisations in children later diagnosed with ASD, RTT, or FXS and provides an in-depth analysis of vocalisation presentation, complex vocalisation production, and the rate and/or frequency of vocalisation production across the three disorders. …”

People in Peril, Environments at Risk: Coolies, Tigers, and Colonial Singapore's Ecology of Poverty
Published 2018“…As these workers struggled to transform forests into farms, houses and roads, they created an ecology of poverty that had catastrophic consequences for humans and tigers alike. Finding ever less forest in which to hide from humans, the mighty cats instead began to regard some people as prey. …”

Optically reversible electrical soft-breakdown in wide-bandgap oxides — a factorial study
Published 2019“…The effect is evidenced by a decrease in the breakdown leakage current, termed as a negative photoconductivity response. This finding raises the prospect for optical sensing applications based on these traditionally non-photo-responsive but ubiquitous oxide materials. …”

China and the “Singapore Model” : perspectives from mid-level cadres and implications for transnational knowledge transfer
Published 2018“…We found that the most appealing characteristics of the “Singapore model” for these mid-level officials lay in practical governance lessons and their potential transferability rather than in ideologies. This finding challenges conventional wisdom that the most plausible rationale of China’s learning from Singapore is political. …”

Get your facts right: preschoolers systematically extend both object names and category-relevant facts
Published 2016“…At test, children provided with the object name or category-relevant fact were significantly more likely to display systematic category extension than children who learnt the category-irrelevant fact. Our findings contribute to a growing body of evidence that the mechanisms responsible for word learning may be domain-general in nature.…”

Access, dignity, and choice: social supermarkets and the end of the food bank model in the UK?
Published 2024“…We use a mixed-methods approach based on questionnaires (n = 111) and interviews (n = 25) with SSMs members, engaging with local priorities and perspectives in the active co-creation of the research. Our findings demonstrate that SSM’s provision is more inclusive and mindful of the diversity and agency of their members, doing away with pre-conceived ideas of food support recipients as passive citizens. …”

A study on loading multiple epitopes with a single peptide
Published 2024“…We established a method for multi‐epitope peptide recombination from these immunodominant groups. (3) The immune effect of the recombinant multi‐epitope peptide was better than that of a single peptide. Our findings facilitate the understanding of the composition of antigen epitopes and provide a theoretical and experimental basis for developing polyvalent vaccines and understanding immune responses at the molecular level.…”
