Long-term multi-resource fairness for pay-as-you use computing systems
Published 2020“…In view of the heterogeneous resource demands of users' workloads, multi-resource allocation fairness is a must for resource sharing in such pay-as-you-use computing systems. However, we find that, existing multi-resource fair policies such as Dominant Resource Fairness (DRF), implemented in currently popular resource management systems such as Apache YARN [4] and Mesos [23] , are not suitable for the pay-as-you-use computing systems. …”

Coherently tunable triangular trefoil phaseonium metamaterial
Published 2018“…For specific values of the probing frequencies and control fields, the phaseonium can display either metallic or dielectric optical response. We find that, in the metallic regime, the phaseonium metamaterial structure supports extremely large transmission, with optical amplification at large enough intensity of the microwave thanks to strong surface plasmon coupling; while, in the dielectric regime without microwave excitation, the transmission bandwidth can be tuned by varying the control beam intensity. …”

Influence of mesh sizes and orientations on expanded aluminium sheets on tensile performances
Published 2022“…According to the results of the experiment, specimens with fine mesh have higher tensile stress, which is 44.90 MPa for fine mesh specimens with a 30° orientation, compared to medium and coarse mesh sizes, which have the lowest strength, which is 7.06 MPa for coarse mesh specimens with a 60° orientation. …”

Effects of initial oxide layer on growth of titania nanotubes
Published 2011“…In this study, commercially obtained titanium foils were annealed first at different temperatures (i.e., 300°C, 400°C, 500°C, 600°C, 700°C, and 800°C) for a dwell duration of 10 min, or at same temperature of 400°C for different dwell durations (i.e., 10 min, 30 min, and 60 min), in order to form different oxide layers. …”

Unveiling the importance of controllable growth of c-axis oriented Sn-doped ZnO nanorod arrays: Towards humidity sensing applications
Published 2025“…Morphology images taken using a Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) demonstrated an enlargement of the average diameter of the nanorod arrays from 55 nm at 5 min immersion to 122 nm at 200 min immersion. The cross-sectional and surface elemental analysis showed that the sample immersed for 60 min has the highest detection of Sn, with a bulk concentration of 1.8 at.% and surface concentration of 1 at.%. …”

Small-island interactions: pottery from Roman Malta
Published 2015“…In the first instance, a detailed study of three complete and new ceramic assemblages, including amphorae, fine, cooking and coarse wares, was undertaken. The opportunity to quantify identifiable imports and compare them with local products—the first of its kind for fine, cooking and coarse wares—provided valuable proxy data for comparing Malta with neighbouring islands and centres, and demonstrated what proportion of ceramic vessels were locally supplied, and how these changed over time. …”
