Design and growth of high-power gallium nitride light-emitting diodes by Zhang, Zihui

Published 2014
“…We have also suggested InGaN/GaN LED devices with the electron overflow reduction through incorporating n-type InGaN layer and n-type AlGaN layer into the n-GaN layer, respectively, accompanied with which a mean-free-path model has been proposed and demonstrated to explain the mechanism of the electron overflow reduction through decreasing the electron mean free path. Lastly, as it has been mentioned previously, the low p-type conductivity in the InGaN/GaN LEDs has substantially limited the LED performance. …”

Towards electrically injected colloidal semiconductor lasers by Thung, Yi Tian

Published 2025
“…These breakthroughs underscore the ability of colloidal NPLs to be seamlessly integrated into practical lasing applications, overcoming previous limitations with epitaxially grown laser solid microcavities. Lastly, pursuing electrically injected colloidal NPLs lasers, I sandwiched core/hybrid-shell CdSe/CdS@Cd1−xZnxS NPLs as a gain material between two double Bragg reflectors (DBRs) to fabricate a vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). …”

The effects of atmosphere-ocean-wave coupling during tropical cyclone by Garg, Nikhil

Published 2018
“…The coupling modifies the low-level boundary layer structure and the physical properties of near surface flow in TCs, which subsequently affects the physical mechanisms such as convective organisation. Lastly, it was shown that at the air-sea interface, there are a number of physical processes that can affect the TC. …”

Global burden and strength of evidence for 88 risk factors in 204 countries and 811 subnational locations, 1990–2021: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2... by Brauer, M, Roth, GA, Aravkin, AY, Bandyopadhyay, S, Bennett, DA, Browne, AJ, Graham, SM, Rodriguez, JAB, Runghien, T, Sartorius, B

Published 2024
“…
Findings
Among the specific risk factors analysed for this study, particulate matter air pollution was the leading contributor to the global disease burden in 2021, contributing 8·0% (95% UI 6·7–9·4) of total DALYs, followed by high systolic blood pressure (SBP; 7·8% [6·4–9·2]), smoking (5·7% [4·7–6·8]), low birthweight and short gestation (5·6% [4·8–6·3]), and high fasting plasma glucose (FPG; 5·4% [4·8–6·0]). For younger demographics (ie, those aged 0–4 years and 5–14 years), risks such as low birthweight and short gestation and unsafe water, sanitation, and handwashing (WaSH) were among the leading risk factors, while for older age groups, metabolic risks such as high SBP, high body-mass index (BMI), high FPG, and high LDL cholesterol had a greater impact. …”

Tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy versus non‐surgical treatment for chronic/recurrent acute tonsillitis by Burton, MJ, Glasziou, PP, Chong, LY, Venekamp, RP

Published 2014
“…The size of the effect is very modest, but there may be a benefit to knowing the precise timing of one episode of pain lasting several days ‐ it occurs immediately after surgery as a direct consequence of the procedure. …”

Health monitoring, lifetimes estimation, and thermal management of IGBT-based power converters by Mohamed Halick Mohamed Sathik

Published 2017
“…This thesis proposes and discusses an online measurement technique for health monitoring of power modules in power converter systems. Lastly, a three-phase inverter system is developed for experiments to verify the proposed method in real time operating conditions. …”
