Bubble-beam accelerators: breaking the paradigm
Published 2024“…Most particle accelerators utilize beams with a charge density concentrated in the center of the bunch in real 3-dimensional space and the 6-dimensional phase space. In this work, by enhancing the space-charge forces in the photo-cathode injector of the Compact Linear Electron Accelerator for Research (CLEAR) at CERN, we produce electron bunches with a “bubble-like” shape, with a charge density mostly concentrated on the outside shell. …”

Planar grouping for automatic detection of vanishing lines and points
Published 2000“…The three types of grouping are: (1) a family of equally spaced coplanar parallel lines; (2) a planar pattern obtained by repeating some element by translation in the plane; and (3) a set of elements arranged in a regular planar grid. …”

Can topology predict a financial crisis?
Published 2019“…Simplical complexes which exists over a longer spatial scales are call persistent features and are more likely the true features of the underlying space. On the other hand, noise can be identified as short-lived features and eliminated to reveal the underlying space. …”

Mind the perception gap: The impact of bus rapid transit infrastructure on travelers’ perceptions of affective subjective well-being
Published 2024“…Over the past 20 years, bus rapid transit (BRT) has been increasingly promoted as an affordable way to improve public transit services in cities around the world. In many places, however, BRT projects have faced community opposition for a range of reasons, such as concerns around loss of private transport space and parking, demand for improved pedestrian and cycle infrastructure, and impacts on streetscapes. …”

From cosmos to cell: constructing a paradoxical selfhood through planetary and biological bodies in the poetry of Diane Ackerman and Jane Hirshfield
Published 2024“…Ackerman explores selfhood on a vast cosmic scale unlike Hirshfield’s depiction of selfhood which takes place on a smaller scale, within the human body. …”

ART: Adaptive fRequency-Temporal Co-Existing of ZigBee and WiFi
Published 2017“…This allows ART to fully exploit the “frequency white space” left out by WiFi. On the other hand, ART employs P-CSMA to opportunistically tune the use of CSMA for leveraging the “temporal white space” of WiFi interference, according to real-time assessment of transmission quality. …”
