Inducing System-1-type diagnostic reasoning in second-year medical students within 15 minutes
Published 2020“…During the test phase, students responses were significantly more accurate and faster for cases which had been seen repeatedly during the training phase (mean score¼3.56/4, mean time¼2.34 s) com- pared with cases which had been seen only twice (mean score¼1.59/4, mean time¼7.50 s). …”

Additive manufacturing of multiple materials by selective laser melting : Ti-alloy to stainless steel via a Cu-alloy interlayer
Published 2020“…Although fusion and solid-state joining techniques have been typically used to join dissimilar metals, additive manufacturing (AM) has the potential to produce MM parts with a complex spatial distribution of materials and properties that is otherwise unachievable. …”

Ab initio simulation of electronic and mechanical properties of aluminium for fatigue early feature investigation
Published 2016“…Our calculation shows that Al surface energy decreases with the existence of Si impurities but increases slightly with that of Ca impurities, showing the importance of surface impurities in affecting fatigue early behaviours. It has been shown that Young's modulus decreases with fatigue cycles and when a low threshold is reached, cracks will be initiated. …”

Erasure temperature measurements of heat assisted magnetic recording media
Published 2015“…Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) and magnetic Kerr microscopy observations of the scanning laser induced degradation/erasure/demagnetization of the pre-recorded magnetic patterns on disk media (over a wide area of a few hundreds of μm2) show that the magnetic (MFM and Kerr signal) amplitude of the pre-recorded magnetic patterns decreases slowly with increasing laser power (Pw) (/temperature rise) for Pw ≲ 66 mW and then drops sharply to nearly zero for Pw ≥ ∼72 mW (the laser power corresponding to complete thermal erasure when the media temperature is ∼Te). It was further found that this trend of magnetic amplitude reduction with increased Pw is similar to that from magnetic amplitude decrease of pre-recorded magnetic patterns with increased bulk heating temperature. …”
