A comparison study on effectiveness and robustness of control charts for monitoring process mean and variance by Khoo, Michael B. C., Ou, Yanjing, Wen, Di, Wu, Zhang

    Published 2013
“…Moreover, the probability distributions of the mean shift δµ and standard deviation shift δσ are studied explicitly as the influential factors in a factorial experiment. The main findings obtained in this study include: (1) From an overall viewpoint, the SPRT-type chart is more effective than the CUSUM-type chart and equation image type chart by 15 and 73%, respectively; (2) in general, the adaptive chart outperforms the optimal chart and basic chart by 16 and 97%, respectively; (3) the optimal CUSUM chart is the most effective fixed sample size and sampling interval chart and the optimal SPRT chart is the best choice among the adaptive charts; and (4) the optimal sample sizes of both the equation image charts and the CUSUM charts are always equal to one. …”

The confounding effect of nitrite on N2O production by an enriched ammonia-oxidizing culture by Law, Yingyu, Lant, Paul, Yuan, Zhiguo

    Published 2013
“…These observations suggest that N2O production by the culture is diminished by both high NO2– and high DO concentrations. Collectively, the findings show that exceedingly high NO2– concentrations in nitritation systems could lead to decreased N2O production. …”

Very small effects of an imagery-based randomised trial to promote adherence to wearing face coverings during the COVID-19 pandemic and identification of future intervention target... by Conroy, Dom, Smith, Debbie M., Armitage, Christopher J.

    Published 2022
“…Conclusion: Imagery-based interventions to increase face covering wearing adherence may exert significant public health effects but only when conducted on a very large scale. Our findings suggest that interventions should target men and disrupt habitual past behaviour.…”

    Published 2025
“…Finally, the individual thresholds for psychophysical stereoacuity at the 3 different pedestal disparities were broadly related to population receptive field tuning width in area V1, suggesting a possible limit for fine stereopsis at the earliest level of cortical processing. Together, these findings point to heterogeneity of disparity processing across human visual areas, comparable to non-human primates.…”
