How Much Does It Really Cost? A Dynamic Approach to Building Retrofit Costs for Decarbonization Pathways by Kirkeby, Amanda

Published 2024
“…The scarcity of contemporary cost data and methods for cost prediction at the urban scale makes this question difficult, and further questions around equitable incentive programs nearly impossible to answer. This work demonstrates the concept and relevance of implementing a dynamic cost model in the UBEM context. …”

Essays on the market for corporate bonds by Levonmaa, A

Published 2017
“…This study uses a large dataset of corporate bond transactions from the TRACE database for the US corporate bond market, combined with credit rating changes from Fitch, Moody's and Standard and Poor's (S&P), to analyse over 22,000 bonds, coupled with approximately 28,400 rating events over nearly six years. The results show that the bond market responds to news on credit quality asymmetrically: credit rating downgrades, representing bad news for bond holders, produce the strongest response in returns, whilst upgrades do not generate a statistically significant increase in returns. …”

Evaluation and implementation of a Just-In-Time bed-assignment strategy to reduce wait times for surgical inpatients by Braaksma, Aleida, Copenhaver, Martin S., Zenteno, Ana C., Ugarph, Elizabeth, Levi, Retsef, Daily, Bethany J., Orcutt, Benjamin, Turcotte, Kathryn M., Dunn, Peter F.

Published 2023
“…In this study, we used data from four surgical units in a large academic medical center to build a discrete-event simulation with which we show how a Just-In-Time (JIT) bed assignment, in which ready-to-move patients are assigned to ready-beds, would decrease bed idle time and increase access to general care beds for all surgical patients. Additionally, our simulation demonstrates the potential synergistic effects of combining the JIT assignment policy with a strategy that co-locates short-stay surgical patients out of inpatient beds, increasing the bed supply. …”
