Dynamic swimming pattern of Pseudomonas aeruginosa near a vertical wall during initial attachment stages of biofilm formation
Published 2021“…Here, we compared the near wall (vertical) swimming behaviour of P. aeruginosa (PAO1) and its mutants ΔdipA (reduced in swarming motility and increased in biofilm formation) and ΔfimX (deficient in twitching motility and reduced in biofilm formation) using our new imaging technique based on light sheet microscopy. We found that P. aeruginosa (PAO1) increases its speed and changes its swimming angle drastically when it gets closer to a wall. …”

A solid‐state fibriform supercapacitor boosted by host – guest hybridization between the carbon nanotube scaffold and MXene nanosheets
Published 2020“…On the other hand, although 2D pseudocapacitive materials, e.g., Ti3 C2 T x (MXene), have demonstrated high volumetric capacitance, high electrical conductivity, and hydrophilic characteristics, MXene-based electrodes normally suffer from poor rate capability owing to the sheet restacking especially when the loading level is high and solid-state gel is used as electrolyte. …”

A cobalt‐based metal – organic framework as cocatalyst on BiVO4 photoanode for enhanced photoelectrochemical water oxidation
Published 2020“…A metal–organic framework (MOF)‐modified bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) photoanode is fabricated by an ultrathin sheet‐induced growth strategy, where ultrathin cobalt oxide sheets act as a metal source for the in situ synthesis of Co‐based MOF poly[Co2(benzimidazole)4] (denoted [Co2(bim)4]) nanoparticles on the surface of BiVO4. …”

Distributed execution of workflow
Published 2009“…The main reasons which led us to this selection are: (i) there is few existing work on partitioning workflow, specially as a means of accelerating workflow execution; (ii) several systems have been developed using three main enactment models (i.e., centralized, hierarchical, and distributed models), but most of them focus on centralized execution control while the existing hierarchical and distributed models still have problems such as high overhead in communication amongst the distributed parties; and (iii) data movement mechanisms are divided into: centralized, mediated, and peer-to-peer models. …”

Comparative study on design of braced excavation systems
Published 2019“…From this study, the following findings are drawn: The Hardening Soil and the Hardening Soil with small-strain stiffness models generate conservative settlement profiles compared to the Mohr-Coulomb model; Combination 1 provides a conservative estimation of the wall bending moments; Upper strut forces are more conservative using DA1 Combination 1 while bottom strut forces are more conservative using DA1 Combination 2 Scheme 1; Scheme 2 gives a large bending moment than Scheme 1; The Mohr-Coulomb model, generally, gives a smaller maximum wall bending moment than the Hardening Soil model; findings from sheet pile excavation deviate from those from diaphragm wall excavations; and lastly, consideration of factored E50/cu ratio produces similar strut forces and bending moments compared to unfactored E50/cu values.…”
