Hot and round: How temperature and shape impact the multisensory appreciation of cornmeal
Published 2024“…In a between-participants experimental design conducted in an ecologically-valid restaurant setting, we investigated the appreciation of differently-shaped pieces of cornmeal (rounded vs. rectangular) for different serving temperatures (room-temperature vs. hot presentation). 282 participants (165 female, mean age of 37 years, SD = 11 years, age range 17–62 years) tasted the cornmeal and evaluated it with respect to several sensorial qualities (i.e., temperature, wetness, texture, elasticity, and liking) and indicated the perceived dominant taste from amongst the five basic tastes. …”

A low cost multi-touch surface
Published 2010“…An experiment to improve the sensitivity of the touch surface was then conducted by coating silicone onto a plastic sheet to create a compliant surface. The results have shown that this compliant surface did not perform well, but further research has also shown the potential of compliant surfaces, given suitable types of silicone and projection surfaces. …”

New use of global warming potentials to compare cumulative and short-lived climate pollutants
Published 2016“…Metric choice can affect the relative emphasis placed on reductions of ‘cumulative climate pollutants’ such as carbon dioxide versus ‘short-lived climate pollutants’ (SLCPs), including methane and black carbon2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Here we show that the widely used 100-year global warming potential (GWP100) effectively measures the relative impact of both cumulative pollutants and SLCPs on realized warming 20–40 years after the time of emission. …”
