Innovation and firm survival: the role of timing, funding, and networks
Published 2024“…This not only sheds new light on how SMEs innovation-survival relationship is shaped by the timing of initiating innovation but also how this relationship is moderated by external financial support and collaborative networks from different sources, including the public and private sectors. Our findings will not only enlighten the policymakers in drafting different supportive schemes to provide aid to the SMEs but also the entrepreneurs in establishing routines for managing their innovation activities and taking full advantage of external financial support and collaborative networks to improve their innovation and business performance.…”

Regulation of coronavirus gene expression by the 5'-untranslated region.
Published 2010“…As a result of deleting 362 nts from the 5’-UTR, a 2-fold increment in gene expression was observed, which confirmed the finding made by Liu et al. (1998). Furthermore, it was found that a disruption of SL1 could result in a slight decrease in gene expression. …”

Social gating of statistical learning in infants through interpersonal neural synchrony
Published 2020“…Infants of 8 to 10 months old (n = 18) were recruited and results showed that there were significant effects of eye- contact on neural synchrony (within-infant, within-adult, and infant-adult), but it was only found for within-infant synchrony in the full eye-contact condition. No significant findings were found between neural synchrony and statistical language learning. …”

Spontaneous emission of a quantum emitter near a Chern insulator : interplay of time-reversal symmetry breaking and Van Hove singularity
Published 2021“…To this end, we obtain the full real-frequency behavior of the conductivity tensor by performing a tight-binding calculation based on the Qi-Wu-Zhang model and using a Kubo formula, and derive the full electromagnetic Green tensor of the system, which breaks Onsager reciprocity. …”

Alternative credit scoring for the un(der)banked
Published 2024“…I show that machine-learning yields substantial above chance probabilities in estimating credit risk, and I also manage to reduce the feature set dimensionality (i.e. credit request steps) by 96 percent at near-identical prediction performance, which translates to a quasi-single-question credit request. A major finding of my research constitutes a revelation of the relationship between homophily and credit risk, with loan applicants exhibiting similar credit risk profiles tending to be socially similar; a finding which I put to use by defining and testing various graph-theoretical structural social similarity metrics for their applicability to predict credit risk. …”
