Fast and Simple Construction of Efficient Solar-Water-Splitting Electrodes with Micrometer-Sized Light-Absorbing Precursor Particles
Published 2017“…By applying this fabrication scheme, photoelectrodes of solid-state reaction derived Mo doped BiVO4 (≈4 μm, modified with oxygen evolution catalysts) and commercial WO3 (size ranging from 100 nm to >10 μm) have yielded photocurrent densities higher than 1 mA cm−2, while the photoelectrode composed of commercial CdSe (≈10 μm) is able to produce a photocurrent density higher than 5 mA cm−2 (in a Na2S aqueous solution). This strategy provides a new possible way, in addition to the predominant route of nanostructuring, to construct efficient solar-water-splitting electrodes.…”

Urban flood detection with Sentinel-1 Multi-Temporal Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) observations in a Bayesian Framework : a case study for Hurricane Matthew
Published 2019“…We then formed a flood probability map, which we used to create our preferred flood extent map using a global cutoff probability of 0.5. Our flood map in the urban area showed a complicated mosaicking pattern of pixels showing SAR intensity decrease, pixels showing intensity increase, and pixels without significant intensity changes. …”

Semiconducting photothermal nanoagonist for remote-controlled specific cancer therapy
Published 2018“…The organic nanoagonists comprise semiconducting polymer nanoparticles (SPNs) and capsaicin (Cap) as the photothermally responsive nanocarrier and the agonist for activation of transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1), respectively. Under multiple NIR laser irradiation at the time scale of seconds, the nanoagonists can repeatedly and locally release Cap to multiply activate TRPV1 channels on the cellular membrane; the cumulative effect is the overinflux of ions in mitochondria followed by the induction of cell apoptosis specifically for TRPV1-postive cancer cells. …”
