Determination of octreotide acetate as radiosensitizer in breast cancer cell lines
Published 2022“…While MCF7 cell line was resistant to radiation, there was no difference between the irradiated and non-irradiated cells, however, SSTR1, SSTR2, SSTR3 and SSTR4 mRNA expression were significantly higher in MDA-MB231 cell line as compared to MCF-7 cell line (P=0.02, 0.002, 0.001, 0.01) respectively. These findings showed that MCF7 is a radio- resistant cell line expressed low levels of SSTRs 1-5 which considered a suitable model for study the effects of octreotide acetate agonist as radiosensitizer in breast cancer. …”

Enhanced rice (Oryza sativa L.) plant growth and nutrient contents during the vegetative stage through zinc solubilizing bacterial bead inoculation
Published 2024“…Mixed inoculant also improved soil fertility by increasing the available Zn (6.17 mg kg-1) in the soil, however, it lowered the soil pH to pH 5.8. These findings highlight the potential of ZSB, particularly A. nosocomialis (SR R-10), to improve rice plant’s growth and nutritional quality and increase the bioavailability of zinc in the soil to promote sustainable agricultural practices.…”

Phytochemical analysis and cytotoxic effects of mango (Mangifera indica L) kernel on breast cancer cell lines
Published 2015“…It is suggested that the anticancer effect of the M.indica extract is via modulation of redox status through its antioxidant constituents and induction of apoptosis. These findings suggest that M. indica kernel extract, with antiproliferative properties towards cancer cells, while relatively innocuous to normal cells, is a good candidate as an alternative to or for supplementation for current chemotherapies in the treatment of breast cancers, without showing the side-effects associated with these anticancer drugs.…”

Towards the Realization of National Automotive Policy (NAP): Modelling the Malaysian Consumers’ Purchase Behavioral Intention towards Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs) (S/O 14165)
Published 2021“…Consumers’ attitudes mediate the relationships between functional value, emotional value and novelty value and consumers’ behavioural intention to purchase energy efficient vehicle. The findings of this study show that brand preference does not perform any moderating role on the relationship between consumers’ attitudes and purchase behavioural intention, which means that brand preference has no influence on association between consumers’ attitudes and purchase behavioural intention. …”

Integrated Assessment of Diclofenac Biotransformation, Pharmacokinetics, and Omics-Based Toxicity in a Three-Dimensional Human Liver-Immunocompetent Coculture System
Published 2017“…Kupffer cell–mediated cytokine release recapitulated an in vivo proinflammatory response exemplified by a cohort of 11 cytokines that were differentially regulated after lipopolysaccharide induction, including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-1Ra, IL-6, IL-8, IP-10, tumor necrosis factor-α, RANTES (regulated on activation normal T cell expressed and secreted), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, macrophage colony-stimulating factor, macrophage inflammatory protein-1β, and IL-5. In summary, our findings indicate that three-dimensional liver microphysiological systems may serve as preclinical investigational platforms from the perspective of the discovery of a set of clinically relevant biomarkers including potential reactive metabolites, endogenous bile acids, excreted proteins, and cytokines to predict early drug-induced liver toxicity in humans.…”

Food environments and obesity: a geospatial analysis of the South Asia Biobank, income and sex inequalities
Published 2023“…Multivariate regression models were used to assess association of exposure to healthy and unhealthy food environments on waist circumference, BMI, and probability of obesity for the total sample and stratified by sex and income. Findings: The presence of a higher share of supermarkets in the neighbourhood was associated with a reduction in body size (BMI, β = - 3∙23; p < 0∙0001, and waist circumference, β = −5∙99; p = 0∙0212) and obesity (Average Marginal Effect (AME): −0∙18; p = 0∙0009). …”

Growth hormone increases BDNF and mTOR expression in specific brain regions after photothrombotic stroke in mice
Published 2023“…Upregulation of total-mTOR protein expression in the peri-infarct and thalamus suggests that this might be a pathway that is involved in the neurorestorative effects previously reported in these animals and warrants further investigation. These findings suggest region-specific mechanisms of action of GH treatment and provide further understanding for how GH treatment promotes neurorestorative effects after stroke.…”

Foot care behaviours and associated factors among patients with type 2 diabetes: a cross-sectional study
Published 2024“…Additionally, more FC knowledge increased the likelihood by 20% (OR=1.21; 95% CI=1.10–1.33), and higher diabetes-related stress increased it by 1.03 times (OR=1.03; 95% CI=1.02–1.05). Conclusions: Our findings underscore the interplay of various factors influencing FC behaviours among individuals with diabetes and call for targeted interventions and tailored strategies to improve FC practices in this vulnerable population.…”

Chronic oxidative stress promotes GADD34-mediated phosphorylation of the TAR DNA-binding protein TDP-43, a modification linked to neurodegeneration
Published 2018“…Concomitant with TDP-43 aggregation and proteolysis after prolonged arsenite exposure, GADD34-bound CK1ϵ catalyzed TDP-43 phosphorylations at serines 409/410, which were diminished or absent in GADD34−/− cells. Our findings highlight that the phosphatase regulator, GADD34, also functions as a kinase scaffold in response to chronic oxidative stress and recruits CK1ϵ and oxidized TDP-43 to facilitate its phosphorylation, as seen in TDP-43 proteinopathies.…”

Towards Synergistic Understanding of Language Processing in Biological and Artificial Systems
Published 2024“…I show that brain responses to stimuli (sentences) that are represented similarly across multiple successful ANNs are easier to predict from model representations; in contrast, brain responses to sentences that are represented differently across models are challenging to predict, despite high consistency among human participants. Extending these findings to the domain of vision, I suggest that the principle of representation universality may underlie information processing across various domains. …”
