Two-Dimensional MXene as a Promising Adsorbent for Trihalomethanes Removal: A Density-Functional Theory Study
Published 2024“…Notably, THs such as trichloromethane (CHCl3), bromide-chloromethane (CHBrCl2), and dibromochloromethane (CHBr2Cl) demonstrate the highest TDM values, indicating substantial changes in electronic and optical parameters, with TDM values of 16.363, 15.998, and 16.017 Debye, respectively. These findings highlight the potential of the MXene-Cl layer as an effective adsorbent and detector for CHF3, CHClF2, CHCl3, CHBrCl2, and CHBr2Cl. …”

Selective fluoride removal from groundwater using CNT-CeO2 electrodes in capacitive deionization (CDI)
Published 2024“…A carbon nanotube-CeO2 (CNT-CeO2) electrode is employed for the electro-sorption of fluoride ions. Our findings are compelling: when processing a mixed F−/Cl− solution comprising 10 mg/L F− and 100 mg/L Cl−, the CNT-CeO2 electrode is seen to reduce the concentration of F− ions to 1.5 mg/L in just 150 min, amounting to an 85 % F− removal efficiency, while the Cl− removal efficiency remains below 2 %. …”

Regulation of the hif-1-dependent hypoxic stress response by C. elegans
Published 2024“…Secondly, we found that loss of the neprilysin metallopeptidase, nep-2, suppressed the egl-9 Egl phenotype through the degradation of multiple neuropeptides including the known NEP-2 target SNET-1. Our findings reveal two different pathways that function downstream of egl-9 to regulate aspects of the hypoxic stress response, both providing a new pathway with which to study the neuromuscular control of egg laying using NEP-2, and critically showing the integration of the evolutionarily conserved hypoxic-stress response and nonsense-mediated decay pathways.…”
