Anti-fouling thin film composite (TFC) polyamide reverse osmosis (RO) membranes based on piezoelectric polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) substrates
Published 2024“…Reverse osmosis (RO) technology, which exhibits advantages such as lower energy consumption, reduced footprint and higher water quality as compared to thermal-based technologies, has become one of the main technologies in desalination industry. Despite the attractive advantages of RO, the inevitable problem significantly affecting RO processes is membrane fouling. …”

Efficient techniques for subgraph mining and query processing
Published 2015“…First, mining frequent subgraphs from a large collection of graph objects is an important problem in several application domains such as bio-informatics, social networks, computer vision, etc. The main challenge in subgraph mining is efficiency, as (i) testing for graph isomorphisms is computationally intensive, and (ii) the cardinality of the graph collection to be mined may be very large. …”

Critical events detection and management in complex networks
Published 2016“…We study the problem of finding the best locations of a given number of monitors in the network to minimize the worst-case infection size of a strong infection. Our main contributions are two-fold: i) we formulate the problem, prove its NP-hardness and design an efficient heuristic algorithm to find a suboptimal solution; ii) extensive simulations on various synthetic and real-world networks demonstrate that a moderate number of monitors is able to restrict the worst-case infection size to a low level in most cases. …”
