Sustainable copper extraction from printed circuit boards through urban mining: Evaluating environmental impact assessment
Published 2025“…Furthermore, the comprehensive environmental assessment demonstrated that green electrolysis used in the extraction process imposes significantly less impact compared to conventional mining practices across various environmental aspects, including Global Warming Potential (GWP), acidification, eutrophication, ozone depletion air, ecotoxicity, human health particulate air, human toxicity (cancer and non-cancer), and the consumption of fossil fuels and smog air. These findings highlight the importance of adopting environmentally friendly approaches, such as green electrolysis, to retrieve valuable resources like copper.…”

Fiber from coconut as smart materials in road construction
Published 2024“…Abrasion loss analysis indicated that lower fiber percentages (0.50%) enhanced wear resistance, while higher contents (1%) improved structural integrity but increased susceptibility to wear. The findings highlight that 1% coconut fiber content provides the best balance between mechanical strength and durability, offering a promising approach for enhancing bitumen performance in sustainable road construction. …”

Microscopic dynamics underlying the stress relaxation of arrested soft materials
Published 2024“…We also show that perturbing the system via small mechanical deformations can result in large intermittent fluctuations in the form of avalanches, which give rise to a broad non-Gaussian spectrum of relaxation modes at short times that is observed in stress relaxation measurements. These findings suggest that the linear viscoelastic stress relaxation in arrested soft materials may be governed by nonlinear phenomena involving an interplay of internal stress relaxations and perturbation-induced intermittent avalanches.…”

Model-independent search for pair production of new bosons decaying into muons in proton-proton collisions a √s = 13 TeV
Published 2025“…Results are presented in terms of a model-independent upper limit on the product of cross section, branching fraction, and acceptance. The findings are interpreted across various benchmark models, such as an axion-like particle model, a vector portal model, the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model, and a dark supersymmetric scenario, including those predicting a non-negligible proper decay length of the new boson. …”

Chemical dispersant enhances microbial exopolymer (EPS) production and formation of marine oil/dispersant snow in surface waters of the subarctic northeast Atlantic
Published 2019“…Using barcoded-amplicon Illumina MiSeq sequencing, we analyzed, for the first time, the bacterial communities associated with MDS and report that their diversity is not significantly dissimilar to those associated with MOS aggregates. Our findings emphasize the need to conduct further work on the effects of dispersants when applied to oil spills at sea, particularly at different sites, and to determine how the product of this (i.e. …”

Chromatin laser imaging reveals abnormal nuclear changes for early cancer detection
Published 2019“…The low lasing threshold is, in fact, very similar to that of adenomas and is caused by abnormal cell proliferation and chromatin deregulation that can potentially lead to cancer. Our findings suggest that conventional detection methods, such as colonoscopy followed by histopathology, by itself, may be insufficient to reveal hidden or early tumors under development. …”

The hollow fiber bioreactor as a stroma-supported, serum-free ex vivo expansion platform for human umbilical cord blood cells
Published 2015“…Scanning electron microscopy revealed that stroma cell growth inside the HFBR created a three-dimensional cell matrix architecture. These findings demonstrate the feasibility of utilizing the HFBR for creating a complex cell matrix architecture, which may provide good in vitro mimicry of the bone marrow, supporting large-scale expansion of HSCs.…”

Helicobacter pylori infection can affect energy modulating hormones and body weight in germ free mice
Published 2015“…However, in contrast to SPFH mice, GFH showed reduced weight gain and malnutrition. These preliminary findings show that exposure to H. pylori alters host metabolism early in life; but the commensal microbiota in SPF mice can attenuate the growth retarding effect from H. pylori observed in GF mice. …”

Singles' reasons for being single : empirical evidence from an evolutionary perspective
Published 2020“…Younger people were more likely to indicate that they were single because they had poor flirting skills, because they did not see themselves as desirable mates, and because they did not like commitment; whereas older people were more likely to indicate that they were single in order to be free to do what they have wanted. Findings were examined and discussed using evolutionary theories relating to mate selection and evolutionary mismatch.…”

Design rationale for stimuli-responsive, semi-interpenetrating polymer network hydrogels–a quantitative approach
Published 2020“…Surprisingly, there is no obvious influence of crosslinking density of PNIPAM network toward PSA retention, while faster swelling and deswelling at higher crosslinking density are observed in terms of swelling rate constant and deswelling activation energy. These findings offer new insights on the factors affecting structural and physicochemical properties of such semi‐IPN hydrogels, which should in turn serve as a general guideline for materials design.…”

Altmetrics : factor analysis for assessing the popularity of research articles on Twitter
Published 2021“…Then we build a negative binomial regression model with the number of Twitter mentions of an article as a dependant variable, and nine Twitter related factors (the number of followers, number of friends, number of status, number of lists, number of favourites, number of retweets, number of likes, ratio of academic users, and ratio of expert users) and seven article related factors (the number of authors, title length, abstract length, abstract readability, number of institutions, citation count, and availability of research funding) as independent variables. From our findings, if a research article is mentioned by Twitter users with a greater number of friends, status, favourites, and lists, by tweets with a large number of retweets and likes, and largely by Twitter users with academic and expertise knowledge on the field of psychology, the article gains more Twitter mentions. …”
