Microstructured BN composites with internally designed high thermal conductivity paths for 3D electronic packaging
Published 2022“…Indeed, prompt heat dissipation in electrically insulating packaging is currently limited by the thermal conductivity achieved by thermal interface materials (TIMs) and by their capability to direct the heat towards heat sinks. Here, we create high thermal conductivity BN-based composites able to conduct heat intentionally towards specific areas by locally orienting magnetically functionalized BN microplatelets using magnetically assisted slip casting (MASC). …”

Linking dual mode of action of host defense antimicrobial peptide thanatin: structures, lipopolysaccharide and LptAm binding of designed analogs
Published 2022“…As a mode of bacterial cell killing, thanatin disrupts LPS outer membrane and inhibits LPS transport by binding to the periplasmic protein LptAm. Here, we report structure-activity correlation of thanatin and analogs for the purpose of rational design. …”

Heteroatom-doped microporous carbon nanosheets derived from pentaerythritol-melamine for supercapacitors and CO₂ capture
Published 2022“…Heteroatom-doped microporous carbon nanosheets (HMCNs) are used in a wide range of applications, including gas adsorption, energy storage, and catalysis. Here, we demonstrate a solvent-free, template-free, one-pot polycondensation approach for the synthesis of HMCNs using melamine (MEL) and pentaerythritol (PER) as precursors. …”

Rapid electrochemical detection of COVID-19 genomic sequence with dual-function graphene nanocolloids based biosensor
Published 2022“…Rapid and low-cost detection methods are of utmost importance to monitor the diffusion of the virus and to aid in the global fight against the pandemic. We propose here the use of graphene oxide nanocolloids (GONC) as an electroactive nanocarbon material that can act simultaneously as a transducing platform as well as the electroactive label for the detection of 2019-nCoV genomic sequences. …”

Molecular-level methylcellulose/mxene hybrids with greatly enhanced electrochemical actuation
Published 2022“…However, its actuation performance is limited by the slow ion diffusion through the film and poor mechanical property in aqueous electrolytes. Here, molecular-level methylcellulose (MC)/MXene hybrid films are assembled with obviously enlarged layer distance, improved wet strength, and ambient stability. …”

Super-resolution imaging of photogenerated charges on CdS/g-C₃N₄ heterojunctions and its correlation with photoactivity
Published 2022“…Among various structures, type II and direct Z-scheme heterojunctions with distinct charge separation mechanisms are the two typical representatives attracting much research attention. Here we prepared type II and Z-scheme CdS/g-C3N4 nanocomposites by thermal treatment and self-assembly chemisorption methods, respectively. …”

The habenula clock influences response to a stressor
Published 2022“…The response of an animal to a sensory stimulus depends on the nature of the stimulus and on expectations, which are mediated by spontaneous activity. Here, we ask how circadian variation in the expectation of danger, and thus the response to a potential threat, is controlled. …”

Promoting surface reconstruction of NiFe layered double hydroxide for enhanced oxygen evolution
Published 2022“…A dynamic surface reconstruction of oxide electrocatalysts in alkaline media is widely observed especially for layered double hydroxide (LDH), but little is known about how to promote the reconstruction toward desired surfaces for improved oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Here, surface reconstruction of NiFe LDH nanosheets is successfully induced to a higher degree via in situ sulfur doping than that by natural electrochemical activation. …”

One-shot yield-cost relations in general quantum resource theories
Published 2022“…Although it is well known that the amount of resources that can be asymptotically distilled from a quantum state or channel does not exceed the resource cost needed to produce it, the corresponding relation in the non-asymptotic regime hitherto has not been well understood. Here, we establish a quantitative relation between the one-shot distillable resource yield and dilution cost in terms of transformation errors involved in these processes. …”

Modulating T-cell activation with antisense oligoucleotides targeting lymphocyte cytosolic protein 2
Published 2023“…This can be explained by the "undruggable" nature of LCP2, lacking a structure permissive to standard small molecule inhibitor modalities. Here, we explored an alternative drug modality, developing antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) targeting LCP2 mRNAs, and evaluated its activity in modulating T-cell activation. …”

Essential role of lattice oxygen in methanol electrochemical refinery toward formate
Published 2023“…However, a lack of mechanism understanding and material properties that control the methanol e-refinery catalytic performances hinders the discovery of efficient catalysts. Here, using 18O isotope-labeled catalysts, we find that the oxygen atoms in formate generated during the methanol e-refinery reaction can originate from the catalysts' lattice oxygen and the O-2p-band center levels can serve as an effective descriptor to predict the catalytic performance of the catalysts, namely, the formate production rates and Faradaic efficiencies. …”
