Mechanical properties and cracking behaviour of marble and moulded gypsum under high strain rates
Published 2015“…The mechanical properties of both intact and non-intact specimens including the compressive strength, the tensile strength, the elastic modulus, and the failure strain are tested under different strain rates by using a servo compression machine and a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system. Experimental results reveal that these mechanical properties all show strain rate-dependence to different degrees. …”

Low-temperature specific heat capacity of water-ammonia mixtures down to the eutectic
Published 2024“…In support of developing new equations of state, we conducted 1 bar specific heat capacity measurements (Cp) using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) at low temperatures (184-314 K) and low mass fractions of ammonia (5.2-26.9 wt %) to provide novel data in the parameter space most relevant for planetary studies. …”

Ultramafic Alteration and the Cooling of Earth and Mars
Published 2024“…I show that the same high-surface-area clay minerals which bury organic carbon on Earth are prevalent enough on Mars to store the bulk of its initial 1-4 bar atmosphere as adsorbed methane. I postulate that this methane was formed abiotically during hydrothermal alteration of ultramafic rocks, a process which is observed in ultramafic systems on Earth. …”

Heteroatom-doped microporous carbon nanosheets derived from pentaerythritol-melamine for supercapacitors and CO₂ capture
Published 2022“…When used for CO2 capture, the HMCN synthesized by the pyrolysis of a 3:2 mixture of MEL and PER at 900 °C (3/2-HMCNs-900) affords a CO2 uptake of 5.35 mmol g−1 at 273 K and 1 bar CO2 partial pressure. Density functional theory calculations suggest that the high CO2 uptake performance of the HMCNs is associated with the chemical modification of the surface, as a result of N- and O- co-doping. …”
