Improvements to LEO Tracking on The Portable Telescope for Lasercom (PorTeL)
Published 2023“…This thesis focuses on updates made to PorTeL to enable it to receive optical downlinks from the CubeSat Laser Infrared CrosslinK (CLICK) mission satellites in low-Earth orbit (LEO). We show that PorTeL is able to track CLICK-A with an accuracy of 11.1 arcseconds, well within its requirement of 21.8 arcseconds.…”

Heterogeneous Satellite Constellation Design for Cislunar Space Situational Awareness Using Real Options Analysis
Published 2023“…The number of commercial satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) increased more than four-fold in the decade between 2011 and 2021, a trend that is likely to continue due to the combination of increasingly capable technologies and business models [23] [24]. …”

Python-based tools for characterizing geosynchronous satellite behavior and evaluating maneuver prediction techniques
Published 2023“…Geosynchronous (GEO) satellites maneuver frequently to maintain their Earth-relative position despite drift incurred from natural perturbations, but quantifying their diverse maneuver patterns can be challenging. …”

Reduced-Order Atmospheric Density Modeling for LEO Satellite Orbital Reentry Prediction
Published 2023“…Atmospheric density modeling and uncertainty quantification for fast and accurate orbit propagation are vital to drag force estimation for satellite reentry prediction and conjunction assessment in today's increasingly cluttered Low Earth Orbit (LEO) environment. Current density models can be computationally expensive, and often contain large errors, which make density modeling a leading cause of uncertainty in drag estimation. …”

On the Atmospheric Saliency of Space Debris Reentries: Estimating Distribution, Lifetime and Radiative Forcing of Reentry-Ablated Alumina
Published 2023“…As the space economy grows, numerous satellite operators are looking to build megaconstellations in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). These megaconstellations are expected to have hundreds to thousands of satellites operating in altitudes from 350km to 650km. …”
