The research on females' passengers towards the effectiveness of "ladies coach" of KTM Berhad
Published 2012“…Women-only passenger cars are railway or subway cars intended for women only.They are intended for women only and offered on some trains in Iran, Taiwan, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Egypt, India and Dubai. This is to provide more comfort and security to women and protect them from “sexual harassment and jostling with male passengers” and cope up with the demands and travel behaviour of women in this globalization era at the same time.Women made more trips in fulfilling their roles in household and workforce industry.Malaysia, a country of 27.7 million inhabitants and a working age population of 17.6 million.Almost half the working age population (49.1%) is comprised of women.Therefore, their safety in travelling by public transportation is the main concerns.This could be done by providing women with secured transit environment and comfort rides.The implementation of “ladies coach” by KTM Berhad is the very first step in fulfilling women’s transit safety needs.This study provides a comprehensive evaluation on the effectiveness of “ladies coach” in achieving its goals and recommendations for improvements in the futures.…”
