Mutual perceptions of Asia and the EU/Europe : media, elite and public opinion in Singapore and Germany by Uehlecke, Jana, Loke, Hoe Yeong

    Published 2014
“…It is therefore timely to take a closer look at the mutual perceptions of Asians and Europeans – not only at the governmental and policymaking levels, but also in terms of public opinion and the media. Drawing on data from an extensive research project led by the National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE), New Zealand, the empirical study in this paper assesses the mutual perceptions of the EU/Europe and Asia, and their respective actors, focusing on two countries – Germany and Singapore. …”

Stainless steel channel sections under combined compression and minor axis bending – part 2 : parametric studies and design by Liang, Yating, Zhao, Ou, Long, Yue-ling, Gardner, Leroy

    Published 2020
“…The test data and numerical results have been carefully analysed to develop a comprehensive understanding of the structural performance of stainless steel channel sections under combined compression and minor axis bending moment, and to assess the accuracy of the existing design provisions in Europe and North America. Comparisons of ultimate loads from the tests and FE simulations with the codified resistance predictions revealed that the current design standards typically under-estimate the capacity of stainless steel channel sections under combined compression and minor axis bending moment; this is attributed primarily to the neglect of material strain hardening and the employment of conservative interaction formulae. …”

A community-based intervention (the Omama Project) improves neurodevelopment in impoverished 2-year-old Roma children: a quasi-experimental observational study by Fernandes, M, Matuskova, O, Babelova, R, Santosa, WB, Shaw, O, Hrica, P

    Published 2025
“…High rates of childhood neurodisability are reported among the Roma, Europe’s largest ethnic minority community. Interventions targeting early child development (ECD) during the first 2 years of life can improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in vulnerable children; however, evidence from Roma preschoolers is scarce. …”

    Published 2024
“…Here, by using a large ancient genome dataset from the Mesolithic period to the Bronze Age, along with new Medieval and post-Medieval genomes, we show that the genetic risk for MS rose among pastoralists from the Pontic steppe and was brought into Europe by the Yamnaya-related migration approximately 5,000 years ago. …”

'To know them thoroughly you must have their photographs': photographing Donatello in the 19th and early 20th centuries by Johnson, GA

    Published 2025
“…The emergence of photographic media in the mid-nineteenth century led to an explosion in printed reproductions of works of art, with Donatello and other sculptors working in fifteenth- and early sixteenth-century Italy of particular interest to authors and publishers from the early 1860s onwards. The present article traces how statues and reliefs by Donatello and other Italian Renaissance sculptors were illustrated in a wide range of new photographically based media and disseminated through an equally wide range of new printing processes. …”

Surface water sensitivity to climate variability by Paltan-Lopez, H

    Published 2018
“…Furthermore, by applying this framework, this thesis found that committing to a 1.5oC level of warming, instead of 2.0°C, as agreed in Paris in 2015, may importantly decrease high flow occurrences in regions such central Asia or western Europe. Similarly, this thesis found that the intensification of future low flow events, resulted from future climate targets, may lead to important global water losses which in turn would make almost a quarter of current global GHP vulnerable, importantly affecting the energy share in various Asian and Sub-Saharan countries.…”
