Characterization of SARS-CoV-2 Spike mutations important for infection of mice and escape from human immune sera

Here, Rathnasinghe et al. characterize the pathogenesis of a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV-2 in infected obese and aged mice, and identify mutations that are present in SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern, associated with higher transmissibility.
