INFLUENCE OF MOISTURE CONTENT IN THE TERMINAL VELOCITY OF SORGHUM AND MILLET
The aim of this work was to determine and evaluate the terminal velocity behavior of sorghum and millet grains in relation to their moisture content. Grains with moisture content within 9.05 to 31.06% d.b. range and from 8.58 to 32.45% d.b. for sorghum and millet grains were used, respectively. The...

Summary: | The aim of this work was to determine and evaluate the terminal velocity behavior of sorghum and millet grains in relation to their moisture content. Grains with moisture content within 9.05 to 31.06% d.b. range and from 8.58 to 32.45% d.b. for sorghum and millet grains were used, respectively. The terminal velocity behavior, in relation to their moisture content, for both grains, showed similar tendency for most agricultural grains, that is, for the analyzed moisture content range, the terminal velocity increases with the moisture content. The values of this physical property for the sorghum grains were higher than for the millet grains and, still, the linear model was appropriately adjusted to the experimental data, showing correlation coefficients (r2) higher than 0,85 and the medium error value (P) lower than 5%. |
