Description
Summary:This article acknowledges a lack of academic works on beauty in the field of game studies and aims to remedy it by showing how beauty is an important concept to understand video games for, at least, two reasons. Firstly, thinking about video games through the lens of beauty allows us to reflect upon the cultural relevance of video games, not as artwork carrying meaning, but as devices improving and expanding our sensibility. Then, we can propose a more general model of the ludic experience, rooted in these analyses, that is ingrained with the heterogeneity and diversity of ludic pleasures and attitudes.
