Riassunto:[Objective] Under the same power configuration, the cost of a permanent magnet synchronous traction system is higher than that of an asynchronous traction system. However, the former can effectively reduce the operational consumption of trains. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the feasibility of applying permanent magnet traction technology in engineering projects. [Method] Taking the Nanjing Metro Line 9 as an example, a comparative analysis is conducted on the system configuration, operational energy consumption, and maintenance cost of permanent magnet synchronous traction system and asynchronous traction system. An improvement proposal is presented to change the train power configuration from 4M2T (4 motor 2 trailer) to 3M3T (3 motor 3 trailer), and a comparative analysis of the traction and braking performance of the two power configurations is performed. [Result & Conclusion] The 3M3T configuration with a permanent magnet synchronous traction system can effectively reduce the operational energy consumption of trains. It meets the operational requirements of Nanjing Metro Line 9 in terms of traction braking, fault operation performance, and rescue capabilities. Moreover, the overall life-cycle maintenance cost of the 3M3T configuration is relatively low. The research results indicate that, under permissible line conditions, cost control can be achieved by modifying the power configuration.
