description This article aims at presenting the results from a set of considerations that originated from the analysis of the directive leadership from the perception of teachers in the second cycle of teacher training schools in Benguela, Angola, and by a bibliographic review that allowed us to discuss some relevant concepts aiming to clarify the problem of school leadership. Taking into account the objectives outlined for this research, we opted for a mixed methodological approach, with a non-experimental design, using quantitative data collection instruments. The realization that a school is a complex organization that requires strong and good leadership allowed us to understand that only a leadership style appropriate to educational institutions would be able to meet the school’s needs and goals.
