Ursodeoxycholic acid production by Gibberella zeae mutants
Key points Efficient procedures for production and regeneration of Gibberella zeae protoplasts were determined. Fungal mutants were obtained with elevated 7β-hydroxylase activity. Mutant G. zeae M23 almost fully converts LCA (4 g/L) to UDCA.
