Glucocorticoids increase tissue cell protection against pore-forming toxins from pathogenic bacteria

Treating cell lines with glucocorticoids offers protection against the damage caused by subsequent exposure to selected bacterial pore-forming toxins, and is dependent on the glucocorticoid receptor.
