description | In a study of 27 college students, the author has tried to identify the cognitive processes of understanding televisual reporting. This article principally examines the interaction between cognitive structures and the expressive forms of reporting in a context of reception. She establishes that the participants use the model of reporting from television news in their cognitive structures. The selection of elements in the segments is determined by the use of certain forms of expression in the reporting. The participants combined selective elements depending on the logical and causal structure as inscribed in their cognitive structure. The interrelationship between the receivers and the reporting is the result of a bilateral interaction. |
