Description
Summary:In spring 2015, integrated chemistry education was the main focus for students attending the course The Central Areas of Chemistry Education II. The students specifically studied the interdisciplinary aspects of integration. Based on the research literature and the renewed National Curriculum (2014), they developed lesson plans supporting integrated chemistry education in secondary school. The lesson plans focused either on the co-operation between chemistry and mathematics or chemistry and English. In the article three students present the theoretical background for integrated chemistry education and the chemistry related to the lesson plans. All developed teaching materials (in Finnish) can be found online at LUMA.fi, the Finnish STEM education portal: http://www.luma.fi/materiaalit.
