Parameters of Variation in the Syntax of Homophones
This paper argues that homophonous linguistic objects differ in their syntactic structures. A case study of Russian homophonous suffixes shows that homophonous objects belong to two distinct syntactic types: heads vs. modifiers. The question remains if it is also true cross-linguistically.
