ClpC2 protects mycobacteria against a natural antibiotic targeting ClpC1-dependent protein degradation

Mycobacteria evade the toxic effects of Cyclomarin A (CymA) by massive autoupregulated expression of the partial ClpC1 homologue ClpC2 that thereby acts as a tightly binding molecular sponge to prevent CymA binding to ClpCP.
