Summary:Presented article addresses issues related to the music school as an institution supporting and developing the creativity of its students. Creativity is a category that in today’s reality is perceived as an important cultural competence, and it seems important to what extent music education takes actions conducive to its development. The article presents the results of research carried out among 11 teachers of first-cycle music schools. The research was of qualitative nature and the interview was used to collect the research material. Research topics focused on a variety of conditions, ways, accelerators and inhibitors of the process of developing students’ creativity. Conclusions from the analysis of collected material indicate the need for teacher education in the area of supporting and developing students’ creativity, respecting their subjectivity and responding to their needs. Also important in this context are activities concerning the program and organizational side of the school’s music operation, optimizing education processes.
