Note on Hypophloeus japonicus Thunberg, 1822, a new synonym in the tribe Triboliini (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)
The unique type specimen of the hitherto overlooked Japanese tenebrionid beetle Hypophloeus japonicus Thunberg, 1822 was studied and designated as lectotype. The new synonymy is established: Tribolium castaneum (Herbst, 1797) = Hypophlaeus japonicus Thunberg, 1822, syn. n.
