Mechanistic study demonstrated the crucial role of hydroxy(aryl)iodonium tosylate as a precatalyst, which is generated from 2-iodobenzoic acid and <i>m</i>-chloroperoxybenzoic acid in the presence of a catalytic amount of <i>p</i>-toluenesulfonic acid. |
