description In the last decades, research on science teaching has gained strength in Brazil with proposals to approach the relations between science, technology and society, known as STS teaching. From this perspective, high school biology, physics and chemistry classes should address the positive and negative impacts of science on society and the environment. This article presents the results of a perception survey on the teaching of biology, physics and chemistry with high school students from all over the country. The aim of the research is to see how much STS teaching is consolidated in high school classrooms and its impacts on the perceptions of students. As a tool, a questionnaire with closed questions was used, in which the respondent does not identify himself. The results show that themes such as climate change and deforestation are of higher relevance to students than themes in the science canon.
