Summary: | Once reached in the Spanish University the objectives related to the democratisation of the access to higher studies and the achievement of the university autonomy, the university environment is now worried about others, like looking forward the quality, effectiveness, efficiency, competitiveness, etc. This is the reason why the Spanish Council of Universities, after some experimental and pilots projects, designed a plan for the evaluation of the quality of the Spanish universities. But that plan didn't contemplate the singularities of the distance University. This is the central issue of this article. The model of evaluation of distance universities proposed here considers a series of characteristic features, that define the concept of quality (functionality, effectiveness, efficiency, readiness, information and innovation) that integrate the different environments or dimensions that are contemplated (context, goals, inputs, processes, results and improvements). On these dimensions are built the indicators for the evaluation of the teaching in these institutions. |
