Samenvatting:The submitted contribution describes the development of breeding in the Czech Republic from the first half of the 19th century to the present. Political and agronomical factors affecting barley breeding are briefly characterized. Attention is devoted mainly to the malting barley varieties that were bred during the followed period. The varieties Proskowetz Hana Pedigree, Kneifl9s barley, Valtický and Diamant became donors of the malting quality for many other Czech and foreign varieties of malting barley.(In Czech, English summary only)
