description In view of the poor stability of the star wheel type stair climbing device,the conception of step climbing staircase device is put forward. The device is designed and the influence of guide rail eccentricity e on its motion is analyzed. The running track of the three devices when e is 6 mm,10 mm and 15 mm is simulated by SolidWorks to verify the stability of their operation. The prototype is made and its running stability is tested. The results show that the step climbing stair device runs smoothly and the stability of the device has a great relationship with the eccentricity,instability increases with the increase of eccentricity. Therefore,when designing this kind of device,the eccentricity should be chosen to be smaller on the premise of meeting the use requirements.
