New data on ecology and morphology of preimaginal stages of Phaonia trimaculata (Bouché, 1834) (Diptera: Muscidae)

Larvae of Phaonia trimaculata were found in rotten wood for the first time. The larvae are predators, feed on coleopteran and dipteran xylobiont larvae. Detailed description of the larva and pupa is given, main diagnostic characters are discussed
