description Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), featuring with structural diversity, framework tunability and functional versatility, have emerged as promising organic electrode materials for rechargeable batteries and garnered tremendous attentions in recent years. The adjustable pore configuration, coupled with the functionalization of frameworks through pre- and post-synthesis strategies, enables a precise customization of COFs, which provides a novel perspective to deepen the understanding of the fundamental problems of organic electrode materials. In this review, we provide a summary on the recent researches of COFs electrode materials for rechargeable batteries including lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), potassium-ion batteries (PIBs), and aqueous zinc batteries (AZBs). Besides, this review will also cover the working principle, advantages and challenges, strategies to improve the electrochemical performance, and the applications of COFs in the rechargeable batteries.
