In memoriam: Paul K. Benedict (1912-1997)
By any reckoning, Paul K. Benedict was one of the great historical linguists of the 20th century. His sudden death in a traffic accident on July 21, 1997, marked the end of an era in Sino-Tibetan and general Southeast Asian linguistics.
