Summary: | E-commerce is increasingly becoming the dominant factor for consumerism in this technologically inclined era, and emphasis has very often been placed on the financial growth, with neglect on the equally essential factor on security. This project proposes the solution for the existing problem using the Multi-Factor Authentication implemented on an actual e-commerce web application.
Various biometric-based technologies have been identified as the crux of what that is lacking in the current market and will be analyzed according to practical comparisons, leading to a solution to the existing security shortcoming. The ultimate solution consists of the typical User Log In system with a combination of the existing authentication method of One-Time Password (OTP) token and the proposed biometric-based technique of Fingerprint verification, which does not exist in current e-commerce practices.
Subsequently, the validity of the transaction can hence be more fundamentally justified and deem to be secure for both merchants and consumers and future applications of this project onto the mobile platform shall be discussed.
