description This report represents the making of an Arduino based learning platform for children which would act as a training tool for the growth of the child’s vocabulary. The current methods used to expand a child’s vocabulary include children books that require parents to read, audio books, picture cards and more. However, despite the effectiveness of these current tools, they are limited as they require the constant need to update the tool according to the child’s learning needs and there is no way to manually update them without having to purchase a new set of tools. Thus, this project aims to eliminate the need to purchase a new set of tools that change to suit the development of the child and allows for customisation based on the individual child’s needs using the Arduino platform including the Arduino Uno microcontroller and the Thin Film Transistor (TFT) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). This report explains in detail the planning process of the final year project as well as how it is being executed to achieve the desired outcome whilst striving to maintain a low cost. The Arduino is an ideal choice for the project as it is open-sourced and allows for the designing and building of electronic projects that can interact with the real world whilst at a low cost. The problems faced along with their solutions and possible future work have been included.
