Summary: | This quasi-experimental alternative-treatment design with pretest study
aimed to investigated the effectiveness of the treatment of Learning Together
method toward students� English reading comprehension achievement in junior
high school. Both experimental and control group was formed nonrandom
assignment. The subjects involved in this research were 82 of junior high school
�XX� Situbondo (experimental group consist of 40 and control group 42
students). The research data obtained from reading comprehension achievement
tests, verbal ability tests, and observation. Both experimental and control groups
was given pre-tests with achievement tests of reading comprehension and verbal
ability tests. The experimental group was taught reading comprehension with the
Learning Together method, while the control group taught with traditional
instruction. Both groups were given post-tests on achievement tests of reading
comprehension in the experimental group after treatment. Observation sheet used
to reveal behavior that emerged during the course of treatment in the experimental
group.
Data analyzed use Ancova by making verbal ability pretest score as covariable.
The results showed that the Learning Together method was significantly
improve students� English reading comprehension achievement of the
experimental group than the control group. For the Learning Together method
feasible for implementation in the schools. |
