Summary:This research has goals to know the effect of a transformational leadership for a work satisfaction, the effect of a work satisfaction for an organizational commitment, the effect of a transformational leadership for an organizational commitment, and the effect of a transformational leadership for an organizational commitment with a work satisfaction as the mediation variable. This research is a kind of descriptive research. The taken sample is the people who can be met easily at that time by the data collector (convenience sampling). Based on the filtered data, there are 86 people who are chosen to be respondents. There are three kinds of variable in this research, those are free variable (X): transformational leadership, tied variable (Y): organizational variable, and mediation variable (M): work satisfaction. This research use Baron and Kenny mode (1986) with four steps of testing as the regression analysis which is used to test the relationship of mediation variable. Based on the analysis result, there are some conclusions as following: 1) the transformational leadership significantly influences the work satisfaction. 2) the work satisfactionsignificantly influences organizational commitment. 3) the transformational leadership significantly influences organizational commitment. 4) the result of this research supports the result of the previous research which found that a work satisfaction is the mediation variable for the relationship between transformational leadirship and organizational commitment. The implication of this research shows the importance of leadirship to the effort management to develop the commitment of employees. Leadership, especially transformational leadership will be able to influence the work satisfaction of employees, and will also be able to develop the employees� commitment.
