Summary: | The objective of this research was to determine the effect of dietary
organic zinc (Zn) supplementation on egg quality of laying quail. Organic
zinc was supplemented in the diet with the levels of 0, 1, 3, and 5% from
percentage of premix. Two hundreds eighty-eight Japanese quails were
randomly plotted into four treatments with four replications and 18 birds
per replication. The variables of egg quail measured were egg weight,
albumen percentage, albumen index, yolk percentage, yolk index,
albumen pH, yolk pH, egg shell strength, egg shell thickness, egg shell
percentage, and yolk colour. Result in current study showed that 3%
organic Zn supplementation increased (P<0,05) egg shell strength.
However, supplementation of 0, 1, 3, and 5% organic Zn did not affect
egg weight, albumen percentage, albumen index, yolk percentage, yolk
index, pH albumen, pH yolk, egg shell thickness, egg shell percentage,
and yolk colour.
