Summary: | Human-computer interaction always evolves over time. It was began from interaction using command line interface, now has transformed into two-dimensional graphical interface which become standard interface in general computers. Despite of that, human-computer interaction is still evolving into a more natural interaction, as natural as possible like interaction between human.
One of the developed interactions was visual-based interaction. Visual-based interaction mainly used as user recognition or computer control. While visual-based interaction is well developed in desktop computer, in mobile devices the development is still very limited. It is mainly caused by hardware limitation and the \"mobile\" attribute of mobile devices.
In this study, a visual-based interface for mobile device has been developed. Using skin color segmentation and curvature-based finger tip detection, the developed system was able to recognize the given hand gesture fairly well in ideal situation. The system was able to reach the speed of 8 to 10 frame per seconds in resolution of 160x120 pixels.
