description | ABSTRACT
The study is aimed to express semiotically the meaning of Jubran's poem, an-Nabiyyu. Because the poem is a sign has a meaning, the structural analysis will be considered as priority study. For this reason, there are two kinds of theories within this study, there are structural dan semiotics theories. In accordance with the object of the study, the method used here is the heuristic and hermeneutic methods.
Structural analysis of the art work is depended on its characteristic and domination of the element in the work that analyzed. The dominant element that builds structure of an-Nabiyyu from the diction is vocabulary adopted from the nature, the instruments of daily human activity, the names of human body, and the words which have religious value. The second dominant element is imagery and much of it is visual imagery that adopted from the nature, intellectual imagery whith philosophical thinking and auditive imagery. The much visual imagery in an-Nabiyyu shows that Jubran is a visual poets. The rethorical devices is the third dominant element in an-Nabiyyu. There are paralellisme, rethoric questions, and ironic. And the figurative languages to be fourth dominant element. There are metaphor, simile, personification, epic simile, and allegory. Although the meaning of the poem can be found in the connection of each element, but the meaning of all poems have not completted yet. So, the semiotic analysis must be done after structural analysis.
The semiotic analysis starts from matrix, model, and variant. The matrix of an-Nabiyyu is moral education. So, it can be seen in all sub-title of the poems and gives the moralist, etics, humanist, and religious atmosphere. The model as second actuallity of matrix can be seen in its title, an-Nabiyyu, prophet. Prophet is the suitable model of the moral education that becomes its matrix. It can be understood because the most important duty of prophet is to convey the God's revelation to the people. The revelation is full of the kindness and moral education. And the variant as the second actuallity of the matrix can be found in the sub-title of it. Eigt of them will be taken as the sample with some considerations. And the hypograms of them found much in Dam'ah wabtisAmah (Tears and Laughters) and little in al-'Audshif (the Storm). In this semiotic analysis, Jubran illustrations in some of sub-titles must be thougt as sign that has and gives the meaning too.
According to the reading of all poem, the ideas that Jubran wants to say can be classificated as follows: ideas that connects with God, people interraction, human connection with the nature, family life, personal attitudes, and the faith in reincarnation.
Keywords: an-Nabiyu, structural-semiotic, matriks, hypogram. |
