Summary: | Lately many studies on phonological awareness have significantly led to a common conclusion that it has predictive relationship with the progression in learning to read. In that case, training preschool children to improve theirphonological awareness will also mean preparing them to get ready to Learn better in reading when they are at school stage. This study was intended to find out the most effective prereading method in improving phonological awareness of preschool children. These methods were synthetic, analytic, and synthetic-analytic method.
Thirty-eight kindergarten children, with age-range from 4 to 5 were involved in this study. They were selected based on the selection test that was directed to find their equal language ability before training. The assignment of the children to each experimental group was done randomly.
